Steamrail’s biennial open days occur over the March Labour Day long weekend. I was lucky enough to have the time off in 2022 to attend the event and capture some images (and a little video) of the event.
My main focus is always on shunting and switching locomotives and other oddball freight stuff that takes my fancy. The next event will next take place on Saturday 9th – Monday 11th of March (Labour Day long weekend) 2024.
I’ve uploaded four sets of images of Victorian Railways T class, Y class and F class diesels and one of the CM class electric (overhead) parcel vans used on the Melbourne metropolitan network. It is worth noting that CM2 was when the photos were taken, a newly minted centenarian.
