Austin is an historical city, no doubt about it. There is a lot of historical railroad and railroad infrastructure in the city too; or at least there was. With the rejuvenation of the East end of town much of this fantastic stuff has been lost.
East Austin Ice Factory
I don’t have a full history of the build, and I don’t believe it was ever rail served, or that it served the railroads in any capacity, but what a signature building to have on a layout of the Austin area. This was within the railroad area bounded by East 5th and East 7th.
