Late in 2005 while driving along East 7th Street I found a string of Texas South-Eastern Railroad Company (reporting mark TSE) boxcars parked up near the HEB supermarket. With trusty digital camera in hand I took as many detail shots of the cars as I had time to do so.
About TSE
TSE provides switching services from Diboll, TX, with 12 miles of yard track. Traffic includes lumber and forest products. The company was incorporated October 9, 1900, and has been controlled by Temple-Inland Corporation since 1992. In July 2013, Georgia Pacific Corporation purchased the Diboll, TX Temple-Inland Building Products facilities, including the TSE. They interchange with the Union Pacific in Diboll, TX.
About the images
These images were taken on Calles St, down behind the HEB Supermarket on E 7th Street in 2005. I’d not seen these cars before, nor did I see them again after this one time in the area. Thanks to Paul’s comment, I can now fill in some more information about cars. You can see Pauls comment below.
These cars were an empty in loads out operation for Balcones Recycling. Paul states “Those cars came in empty. We would spot six at a time Balcones Recycling and they would be loaded with waste paper. There was about 30 of these cars that were in captured service. We would send the loaded cars out on the UP. They did not come in loaded with lumber.” If you have any information please leave a comment and let me know.
As I have models of this type of car I wanted some general and detail photos of the cars and the weathering (and graffiti as it happened) for my reference.

We would send the loaded cars out on the UP. They did not come in loaded with lumber. East end lumber is now long gone, and it has been at least 40 years since they received rail service.

Thanks for the information on the TSE boxcars. Being an Aussie then living in Austin, Texas, I had to guess. Nice knowing they were Empties in and loads out, for Balcones Recycling, filled with waste paper. That completes the picture for me. I appreciate the feedback.
