Kyle, Texas

When I took these images in the early 2000s, Kyle Texas (on I-35 around 22 miles south of Austin) was a sleepy little village that time had seemed to have forgotten. This railway related set of buildings were a part of the Hays County Co-Op indicating the rural nature of the area.

I was particularly enamoured by the Quonset hut. This spur off the UP Austin Sub branched fromĀ the main line just south of the town’s main grade crossing. In our time living there I never saw the spur in use. In earlier times I can imagine that this would have been well used.

Located just off E Center Street on Old Hwy 81, all of these railway related industrial buildings are history; this site now hosts Advanced Auto Parts.
